While the details on She-HulkPlot sparse, the Disney+ series is expected to set itself apart from other entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by featuring an overtly comedic tone. As evidenced by promotional images, Jennifer Walters will break the fourth wall to draw attention to scenarios and situations she finds ridiculous. “It’s all got this wry, self-referential thing about it,” said Mark Ruffalo, who reprises his MCU role as Bruce Banner, aka The Incredible Hulk. Writer and producer Jessica Gao also noted that this stylistic decision was largely inspired by the She-Hulk comics.

As for Titania, Jamil promised fans that the MCU has never introduced a villain like her. “Titania stands out because I think she’s the most annoying of them, actually,” Jamil said. “I think she almost doesn’t need to use her strength, she might just piss you off. And I think that’s a super power that we haven’t used enough.” The actor further teased that this version of Titania is “modern and fresh and silly and funny”, teasing her reworked origin story.

Whereas She-Hulk leans into the funnier side of Marvel comics, the series should also introduce several characters from the self-series to balance the dynamic. One of those heroes is Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, who will again be played by Charlie Cox. While the Man Without Fear returned to the MCU for a brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Coming Homeit is expected to play a much larger role in She-Hulk. “I don’t want to say anything,” Maslany said. “I just want to say it was – I think the fans will be really happy. Because [Cox is] surprising. He’s really amazing.”

She-Hulk: Lawyer premieres on Disney+ on August 18.
