Lightning vs Rangers Prediction, Odds & Best Bets – Support the Netminders in the Garden

The NHL season officially kicked off Friday with the Global Series in Prague, but on Tuesday the rest of the league follows suit in North America.

Stanley Cup finalist Tampa Bay Lightning travel to New York to face the Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

This is a rematch of last season’s Eastern Conference Finals and should be a great way to kick off the NHL season this side of the water.

Both of these teams come into the season with high expectations and are looking to get straight back into the playoffs and make a run for the Cup once again.

All odds via FANDUAL

  • LIGHTNING +1.5 (-265)
  • RANGERS -1.5 (+210)

  • LIGHTNING (-102)
  • RANGERS (-118)

  • MORE THAN 5.5 (-110)
  • LESS THAN 5.5 (-110)

As this is the first game of a long season, one team does not stand out here.

Both of these teams are pretty even and have brought most of their core pieces back while adding firepower to both sides.

Rangers have added Vincent Trochek from the Carolina Hurricanes and his gritty style should fit well on their second line alongside Bread Man Artemi Panerin.

The Lightning lost veteran winger Ondrej Palat to the Devils in the offseason, which hurt their production a bit.

But with Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point and captain Steven Stamkos back for another year, the Bolts look set for another successful campaign.

Both of these teams have dynamic playmakers, but their best player arguably lies between the pipes.

2021-22 Vezina Trophy winner Igor Shesterkin looks to be having another dominant campaign for the Rangers. The Russian stud is a force when composed and ‘Igor in the Garden’ will be hard to beat again this year.

For the Bolts, they have their own Russian stud in Andrei Vasilevskiy, who led the league in wins for five consecutive seasons. Vasy is at his peak and will be looking to land another Vezina this year.

This game features two of the best Netminders in the league and that brings me to my two favorite bets in this game and they are two pennies.

UNDER 5.5 goals (-110) FANDUAL

I love this game. As I mentioned, these two goalies are stars. Also, to start the season, both offenses are going to need time to get going and find their groove.

The combination of shaking off the early season cobwebs mixed with All-Star goalie play makes this a wonderful place to bet on a subgame.

I found this prop later in the season last year and it’s a good in/out bet to take.

It’s going to be an electric atmosphere at MSG for sure, but the first hustle and bustle of the game will be there and the guys settling into the game will be more evident here.

Vasy and Igor should keep the door closed early as both teams feel ready to start. For the value here at -106, I like this game too.

I don’t take unders very often, which you’ll learn about me, so when I do, it’s for a reason.

As of this writing, no line of player accessories are listed, but I will be posting a separate article throughout the season to talk about my favorite Shot on Goal accessories in each game.

This is my favorite prop market to bet on, so buckle up, we’re having a blast here!
