Lee Theater will present “Where Have All the Lightning Bugs Gone?”

Lee Theater will open the season with “Where Have All the Lightning Bugs Gone?” by Louis E. Catron on September 23 and 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Buzz Oates Blackbox Theatre.

“This show was the whirlwind of my dreams,” said Fai Lloyd, a student director and theater major. “I’ve always wanted to direct, and with this show, the incredible support from the theater department, faculty, production team, and my actors, this experience was everything I hoped for and more. “

According to Mrs. Lloyd, “Where did all the lightning bugs go?” is a sweet and heartwarming story about fate, friendship and hope. When a boy and a girl meet as strangers in a park, they experience ups and downs in their friendship and “find each other” along the way.

“This show lives and breathes by the incredible work the actors put into it,” Ms. Lloyd said. “It just kept growing with us as we worked, and I’m so excited for everyone to see the incredible life this show brings.”

Online ticket sales are available now on Eventbrite or at the Lee Theater Box Office, located in the Communication Arts Building. The box office will open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. the week of the show and one hour before the performance.

“Fai has proven to be a talented and creative theater artist at Lee,” said Dr. Christine Williams, theater teacher and chair of the communications department. “We are thrilled that Fai has the opportunity to bring this show to our stage and use the skills learned during our program to share the piece with our audience.”
